Lubbock-area housing options include everything from lake-front living at Lake Ransom Canyon to historical neighborhoods with classically designed homes. The city’s newer subdivisions can be found in the rapidly growing Southwest and Northwest areas.

The Coldwell Banker College Market Home Price Comparison Index (HPCI), which rates college towns based on the most affordable housing, ranked Lubbock as number one with an average home price of $164,133. According to the Lubbock Association of Realtors, the median price in Lubbock as of April 2006 was $98,200, an increase of one percent, compared to $97,250 for the same April period in 2005.
