Lubbock’s arts and cultural scene is jammed packed with year-round events. For almost three decades, Ballet Lubbock has offered summer workshops and classes for area students. The ballet’s annual spring performance features local dancers and guest artists. The talented Lubbock Symphony Orchestra (LS0) Lubbock’s provides an entertaining season each year, featuring world class guest artists. More than 200 performances are presented each year in the beautiful Hemmle Recital Hall, with its magnificent organ. The performances cover a diverse range of music, including jazz concerts, opera productions, music theater, recitals, and visiting performers.
Recently restored to its 1940’s decor, the Cactus Theater brings an air of nostalgia to audience goers with live music productions, classic movies, theater and dance. For 75 years, the Maedgen Theatre has enlightened, educated and entertained West Texans by providing a wealth of theatrical productions, ranging from well-known classics to new, creative works by emerging artists. As a public cultural art center, the Garden and Arts Center offers a rich variety of arts programs for youths, adults, seniors, and families. Programs include art education classes, monthly exhibits, garden classes and shows, summer camps and art and photography competitions.
